Bag Charm Trends Are Far From Over, Here Are the Two That’ll Be Everywhere in 2026

We have certainly reached peak Labubu. Months after the little monster went viral for being the bag charm of 2025, the fashion set seemed a little exhausted. Adorning designer bags with not-so-serious charms with a childlike aesthetic felt like a statement; a way to make luxury not so stuffy. But suddenly, after trending for over a year, it felt a bit overdone.

Bags were getting drowned in keychains and there was a never ending call to buy more and more and more. What felt like an anti-luxury statement suddenly became very expensive. The idea that throwing quirky charms on an expensive bag showed you didn't really care was no longer true. If anything, it showed you were really trying to keep up with the trends. The look lost its sense of nonchalance.

The bag charm movement was certainly a reaction to the quite luxury and minimalism that had taken over fashion. But now that things are feeling more maximalist, wearing a bag with a handful of cute charms can feel far too over-the-top. That being said, in 2026, bag charms won't disappear but they will look very different.

Below, the two big bag charm trends of the year that feel like a very fresh take on the look that you won't get tired of anytime soon.

Wearing something that would be a bag charm as a necklace instead.

Coach Spring/Summer 2026

One of the biggest bag charm trends is the repurposing of what would be a bag charm as a necklace. This kind of look was seen last season at Coach's Spring/Summer 2026 show, where models wore necklaces with small kisslock bags and pouches on long chains dangling from their necks.

We're predicting that these necklaces will be an 'It' item of 2026 but also they'll inspire a new ethos around bag charms like these tiny bags but also tassels, pendants, stones, and more. Sure, you can take them off your bags, but you can then repurpose them and wear them around your neck for a new look that still feels fun but far more fresh.

Leaning more into texture in a less cutesy way.

Chloe Fall/Winter 2025

The other big bag charm trend of 2026 is all about texture. At Chloé, models carried Paddington bags with fur stole keychains swinging from them. The Paddington bag's appeal—it is on track to be the biggest 'It' bag of the year—has a lot to do with the fact that it already comes adorned with a large lock. But the fur stole adds the extra oomf that feels so seventies.

In general, texture is a major 2026 trend, just look at any of the big runway shows from last season from Miu Miu to Chanel, and you'll see exactly what we mean. Incorporating it onto your bag feels different and the fact that it isn't a teddy bear automatically feel more elevated (although there is a fluffy subtle bear charm by Coach that we do want as well...).
