I Asked a Fashion Designer What to Buy From H&M Studio's Pre-Fall Collection—Here's What She Said

Ask me what my humble brag is, and I'll tell you that I'm a pro-H&M shopper. I've been shopping at the Swedish brand for over 10 years. I even remember my first purchase—a butter-yellow dress I wore to my cousin's bridal shower. H&M has always been my go-to destination for affordable, current pieces. While I initially stuck to the main section, as I've matured, my wardrobe has followed suit, leading me to explore H&M Studio's offerings.

For those unfamiliar, each season, a dedicated design team at H&M's Stockholm atelier creates a collection called H&M Studio. This line features more fashion-forward and trendsetting pieces, and occasionally, a guest curates a special edit. While it's more expensive than the non-Studio line, this is due to the use of higher-quality, more sustainable materials and a smaller, more exclusive distribution model.

With a new season just around the corner, now is the time when the label drops a fresh Studio collection, which happens to be a pre-fall capsule curated by Sami Miró, founder, designer, and creative director of Sami Miro Vintage. Not only does Miró have a unique eye for style, but she also promotes sustainability within her brand, which is why she aligns with the new collection, as it incorporates recycled and eco-friendly materials.

When it comes to the selection, shoppers can expect a range of fall wardrobe staples, including crewneck sweaters, suede jackets, classic denim, and cute miniskirts. Miró describes the pieces as "effortlessly cool."

"The collection is inspired by Copenhagen street style, so it has a perfect balance of tailored pieces and those with a lived-in feel," Miró tells Who What Wear. It incorporates a lot of texture, which she says aligns with the top fall trends. "Denim is another key trend in the collection," she adds. "I’m going all in on denim this season. I love the denim set—it's perfect for the transitional season."

When thinking about transitional dressing, outerwear is a key category, and the new drop offers plenty of options to consider. "There is an amazing leather jacket from the new collection that I am loving," Miró shares. "The print and structure of this one is not like your average leather jacket. It adds something special to whatever I’m wearing."

Beyond its diverse options, the collection stands out because of its versatility. Miró notes that everything can be layered together. For example, you can wear the miniskirt during the day and then, when it gets cold at night, put jeans under it. The sweater can even be turned into a scarf, or the skirt can be made into a top. "Let yourself be playful and experiment, don’t be afraid to try wearing something in a new way," she adds.

Below, find the must-have pieces from the new H&M Studio collection that you can start shopping and wearing now, according to Miró.
