I think we can all agree that the right handbag has the ability to make ot break an outfit. As someone who works in fashion, I spend a lot of my time analysing runway shows to identify which bag styles, shapes, and, most importantly to me, colours will be at the forefront of any given year. And I'm often asked by my friends and family which colours are set to be popular, so they can stay ahead of the pack as well. If it’s not clear yet, 2026 is all about embracing the bolder hues and maximalist tones that we previously rejected in previous years. I, for one, am happy about this. 1. Aquamarine

Style Notes: “Teal” is a rather subjective colour, encompassing a wide range of depth and undertones, but for 2026, designer houses are turning their attention to richer, almost aquamarine-like iterations of the shade. Named by WGSN as the colour of the new year, there’s just something extremely relaxing about this hue, merging together the calmness of nature with the same elegant twist that other shades of blue bring to an outfit. The colour will look good in any fabrication, but I do think that it lends itself particularly well to suede finishes.

2. Pops of Pink

Style Notes: Pink may not be a new shade, but fashion houses have given it an elegant refresh. Less like both the bubblegum Barbie-era pinks we saw back in 2024 and the paler powder pinks we saw dominate last year, luxury houses, from Bottega Veneta to The Attico, are embracing this colour in a range of brighter hues that sit somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.

3. Mustard Yellow

Style Notes: Yellow has been trending on and off for a few years now, but instead of the paler, buttery iterations we minimalists are used to, mustard yellow is at the forefront of designers’ minds for the new year. But never fear, as it’s proving to be no less versatile. Seen on the runway on the likes of Miu Miu and Hermès, mustard yellow was paired effortlessly with browns, creams, and reds alike, proving its easy-styling ability. Me personally? I’d wear this rich yellow with a head-to-toe indigo denim ensemble.

Style Notes: Once considered “cheap-looking” among elegant dressers, white bags are set to make a comeback for 2026. What was previously regarded as a fashion faux pas is now being embraced as a colour that will add an instant level of coolness (pardon the pun) to your outfit. This will come as no surprise, especially after Pantone announced ‘Cloud Dancer” as their colour of the year, and I, for one, am excited to incorporate a neutral hue that can pair easily with both muted and more saturated colours as well as brighten up my darker outfits.

Style Notes: I first noticed cobalt blue on the autumn/winter 2025 runways, but it’s really come into its own for the new year. Spotted on the runway in luxe fabrications such as leather or suede, this playful shade is set to trend for many seasons to come. And don’t be afraid of this bolder hue. In fact, the colour pairs just as well with neutrals such as white, beige and grey as it does with daring colours like orange or mustard yellow.

Style Notes: Sitting somewhere between peach and terracotta, burnt sienna hues were spotted all over the spring/summer 2026 runways. From Ferragamo to Lacoste, designers showcased a number of handbags in this warm hue. A softer alternative to the chocolate brown hues that dominated last year, this shade perfectly blends modern appeal with a retro edge. And it's not just bags; you can expect to see this colour in the form of clothing as well as other accessories over the next few months.
