This "Dated" Winter Accessory Is About to Have a Huge 2026 Comeback—Here's Proof It Makes Every Outfit Cool

I always leave Copenhagen Fashion Week with a sense of excitement about my own closet. It's different in that sense from New York, Paris, or Milan. All of those fashion weeks have always left me feeling a bit like I wasn't enough, like I didn't have enough designer pieces or vintage pulls. But Copenhagen has a bit more of a carefree whimsy that makes me excited to go home and get dressed. The personal style of the city, which is on full display during fashion week, doesn't so much intimidate me as it does inspire me to take another look at what I own with a fresh set of eyes.

I think it's because the Danish fashion community has such a strong sense of personal style that feels approachable. It's less about brands and logos and runway trends and more about a sense of childlike comfort. The most fashionable people in Copenhagen dress how I always imagined myself dressing when I grew up. There's a confidence and nonchalance in the way they layer. They aren't scared of mixing patterns and prints or a wide range of bold colors. And they love nothing more than a cute nonessential accessory that's mostly just vibes.

Last season, the accessory I noticed almost everyone wearing was a skinny scarf. Skinny scarves are a little bit ridiculous in that they aren't really doing what a scarf is supposed to do. They're too thin to offer any actual warmth, but they are extremely stylish.

Skinny scarves have a way of adding some unnecessary drama to an outfit. Throwing one over your shoulder gives you the same thrill as flipping your hair. It's silly but satisfying. And if you feel as though an outfit is missing something, adding a skinny scarf will add guaranteed flair that you can easily remove if need be.

Although I'm not sure why you'd want to take it off when it so clearly works with everything and can instantly make you look like you could be from Copenhagen. Which, to me, in 2026, feels even better than someone mistaking you for a French girl.
