Jennifer Lawrence Has a New Favorite Styling Trick

Jennifer Lawrence is entering an experimental styling era. Recently, the actor has embraced a red and white palette and proved that a limited color scheme still leaves plenty of room to play with layering, silhouette, and accessorizing.

During the peak of New York’s heatwave last month, Lawrence opted for a sun-reflecting all-white outfit: a prescient, oversized “Recycle” tee, and layered two lace-trimmed skirts—a mini, atop a another calf-length slip. Today, she offered a new riff on the layered look.

Lawrence wore flowing silk pants in her tried-and-true tomato-red, which she paired with a boxy white T-shirt. She accessorized with a white Ralph Lauren baseball cap, sunglasses, and—as she did yesterday—a pair of slim black flip-flops, a black suede Liffner tote bag, and a black cord necklace with a large onyx pendant.

While the statement jewelry and bright red pants created some visual intrigue, Lawrence went further and played with thoughtful piece pairing, introducing her white mini slip. Likely a slip dress that she wore beneath her tee, the slip would probably be too short to wear as a dress. But here, worn sandwiched between her shirt and pants, Jennifer Lawrence is modeling another way to wear our more fickle pieces thanks to some artful layering.
