The co-hosts of this year’s Met Gala are no strangers to jewelry. All four are multi-hyphenates who champion the category. History tells us that men have long embraced jewelry, and this year’s exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style shows the role these pieces played in the definition, development, and exuberance of dandyism.

Serving as men’s Creative Director at Louis Vuitton since 2023, it’s no surprise that when it comes to jewelry style, the multidisciplinarian doesn’t shy away from making a statement. His artfully layered jewels tend to follow a pattern, and we’ve broken down the formula.

First up in the equation: the base layer. These are the not-so-basic basics that go on first. Start with a chain necklace with an interesting link. Next up is the statement.
