Kendall Jenner Plays With Contrast in Leather and Silk

We’re all tucking away our coats and heavy jackets for spring, right? Right?

Well, not Kendall Jenner, apparently. Last night (April 30), the model showed just how to wear a heavy coat even as the weather warms up. While Hailey Bieber opted for an ice blue minidress from Tom Ford’s Gucci tenure, her dinner companion mixed hard and soft with a little help from her favorite brand, The Row.

Jenner’s top half was straight out of The Matrix. She wore a black leather zip-up from the Olsen-fronted label—the $9,500 Jilly jacket—with utilitarian finishes like a high collar, detachable hood, and drawstring waist. She created some sartorial tension with her bottom half: A pair of flowing white silk trousers.

The model’s accessories were also a lesson in contrast. She wore a pair of impenetrable, Neo-esque black rectangular sunglasses, contrasting with her silk accordion top handle purse—also from The Row. She found her sartorial middle ground with her shoes, a pair of black leather pointy-toe kitten mules.

So, when considering your spring and summer wardrobe, don’t rush to put away your leather jacket just yet. Take a cue from Kendall Jenner and remember that opposites attract.
